In 2011, Klas Alfthan, the founder of our company, realised he had bought an apartment in a housing company that was about to start a renovation project. Klas became interested in investigating the reasons behind the plumbing renovation. It turned out that the need for pipe renovation was caused by organic waste that accumulated in the pipes. The blockages have to be opened with pressure flushing, which makes the pipes brittle. In addition, as the organic waste rots, hydrogen sulphide is formed, which makes the cast iron pipes more fragile. This leads to the need to replace the broken pipes and residents have to escape the repair for several months at worst.

From this insight, ProtectPipe, a microbiotechnology company, was born in 2016, offering an environmentally friendly way to stop sewage systems from becoming blocked and brittle.

Today, we have over 1,000 satisfied customers whose sewage problems have been solved with our preventive solution. Every home or property that produces cleaner wastewater is also helping to reduce nutrient and chemical pollution of the Baltic Sea.
